Prompt: If you could share and recommend only ONE book that you’ve read so far in 2015, which one would it be?
Sadly, I haven’t been super overly wowed by many books this year. However, one book that really stuck out and completely wrecked me was Room by Emma Donoghue. I won’t go into too much detail because spoilers, but basically it’s about a woman who is held in captivity with her young son, who has never been outside of the room that they live, and the world she has created for them, and the events that unfold as she plans their escape.
It’s seriously so, so good. It’s told from her son Jack’s point of view, and his simple naivete and innocence is so refreshing.
Here is the link to my review, but proceed with caution, as there are spoilers. [Edit: just kidding, the review is still in my drafts, but I gave it five stars!]
This book has also been made into a film, which is in theaters now.
