1000 Books Before Kindergarten, part 1

You see that face? That is the face a a little bookworm who is just as enthusiastic about reading as his mommy is.

On August 13, we started a new reading challenge at the library– read 1000 books before your child goes to kindergarten. You keep track by filling in bubbles on a sheet. Every 250 books, you bring the sheet to the librarian, and she gives you a prize and the next sheet.

Since Bryce can’t read yet (he’s only 3), we read to him every single day. On October 21, we finished the first side of sheet #1, marking off book number 100 when we finished a book about shapes. He was so proud and kept hugging and high-fiving us and saying, “Thank you for reading one hundred books, Mom and Dad!”

It makes me so happy to see that my son is just as enthusiastic about reading as I am, and I can’t wait for the day when he learns to read! I know he will be so proud of himself!
